MSPT, which stands for MySpace Profile Tracker (yes, we love coming up with original names around these parts), is a web application that is supposed to be able to track who is viewing myspace profiles. I'm a little irked by the fact that myspace doesn't have this, especially what with all the news about stalkers and such. In its current incarnation, it is easily defeated, even by people with modest skill in working with HTTP, but we'll gloss over this fact and pretend that it works per-fekt-ly.
The real reason is that I'm bored out of my mind. I am completely serious; I saw some hoax bulletin claiming you could track who is viewing your profile and figured, why not make this a reality? I have nothing to do anyway, so I'm going to see if it works. If it gets popular, I will sell all your email addresses to some direct marketing company and make tons of money. Just kidding.
No, it's not a hoax. It may not work perfectly, but I'm not one to perpetuate a hoax, funny as it may be. You can see for yourself; sign up for an account and use the bloody thing. It works. Ish.
Another thing of note is that unlike the hoax trackers, we don't require you to post a bulletin for it to work.
I am fully aware of this, and it is a direct result of my unoriginal naming, which it is too late to change. So when you have to differentiate between this service and others, this is Dan's MSPT or theamigan MSPT or whatever.
Well, sign up for an account and login using the form above. Please note that while it is currently functional, it is certainly not done yet. All you can really do right now is marvel at my wonderful webdesign and UI building skills, along with seeing some rudimentary tracking functionality (which will improve as more people join the service).
If you are using the AOL browser, you won't be able to use MSPT. This is because it uses a proxy which uses a different IP for every request, which gravely confuses MSPT (and to protect against being gravely confused, simply refuses to let you login). Use Firefox, Opera, or (if you must) IE to access MSPT. For anything else, ask Dan.
